Philippe CourtotCathy S. Beech, Chief Information Security Officer for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, is responsible for the information security program management functions, including governance and regulatory compliance, risk management, threat and vulnerability management, security administration and security awareness and training.  Ms. Beech joined CHOP in 2006 as an Information Security Analyst and designed and managed processes to measure compliance against regulatory requirements.  In 2009, after four months of serving as an IT Security Manager, she was appointed the CISO role.

Her 20 years of experience in the business and IT fields have also included positions as operational and information systems auditor, senior financial auditor, and IT project manager in the financial, insurance, healthcare, and academic industries.  She served on teams at Temple University, Cigna, Prudential, and Aetna.  Ms. Beech participated in industry associations such as the Information Systems Security Association’s Delaware Valley CSO roundtable in 2010 to discuss emerging trends in Information Security.  Ms. Beech is also a member of the CSO Executive Network, Philadelphia chapter and a former instructor for the CISA exam review course.

Ms. Beech holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Rutgers University.  She is a Certified Information Systems Auditor and is certified in Risk and Information Systems Control.
