Mr. Jeff L. Shyshka was assigned to the position of Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Information Technology in November 2006 and currently serves as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Service Delivery and Engineering.  He is responsible for Field Operations, Enterprise Operations, Enterprise Systems Engineering, the National Service Desk and IT Service Management.

Mr. Shyshka has over 30 years of information and technology (IT) experience in the Federal government and private sector.  He joined the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in 1978 as a senior medical photographer for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) in Palo Alto, California.  Previous positions held by Mr. Shyshka include serving as the Chief, Medical Media Production Service; Chief, Information Resources Management Service; and field Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 21.  As a field CIO, Mr. Shyshka was responsible for IT operations and maintenance, budgets, IT strategic planning, and all VISN-wide IT policy.

Mr. Shyshka earned dual degrees from San Jose State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography and minor in Aeronautics in 1970; and a Masters of Fine Arts in 1972.  He is a former Professor of Medical Photography at San Jose State University.  His medical photography work is published and exhibited in art galleries throughout the world.
